FWDAJ Extra – 2009-09-30

by Roger Benningfield on Sep.30, 2009, under Podcast

It’s the second installment absolutely no one requested! This time I’m covering –in a wholly untimely fashion– Jane’s comments on the April 15th Tea Parties, Democratic hypocrisy, the CIA torture investigation, Obama & racism, and healthcare. This episode is about twice as long as the first, so if you disliked it, you’re really gonna hate this one a bunch.

Oh, and stay tuned for a full episode of FWDAJ, which I’m editing even as I post this.

FWDAJ 9-22-09

by Jane on Sep.27, 2009, under Podcast

Today we started with state politics, particularly Dick’s prediction that Paul Kirk would be named interim successor to Senator Kennedy. I noted that everyone else was predicting Michael Dukakis to the seat. If I’m reading my tweets correctly, as of 2:30 on 9-24-09, Dick had it right.

Next week tackled ACORN with the emphasis on the President’s attempt to disassociate himself with a group he has been associated with for 20 years. We talked about how all of the MA delegation voted to NOT defund ACORN after the recent scandals, except for John Tierney and Barney Frank, who abstained.

Finally we talked about my very favorite part of the scandal which is how it has shown the media to be shilling for the President, as most of the mainstream media declined to mention the scandal until the vote took place.

The fact that the vote took place at all tells me that regardless of the attempts to downplay the Tea Party last week, Congress heard us.

We went on to the latest scandal where the White House coordinated with the National Endowment for the Arts in what certainly looks like an attempt to get the arts community to push the president’s agenda in exchange for grant money. Dick had not heard of the scandal once again highlighting the negligence of the media.

In the discussion the media, special mention was given to Andrew Breitbart’s new website, Big Government, which is leading the charge on exposing both the administration and the media.

There was a lot in between but we ended talking how the administration is back pedaling on what it always called “the good war”, and how reports from Iran are very encouraging.

There is more but you will have to listen.

DC Tea party

by Jane on Sep.14, 2009, under Politics

I left for DC immediately after the show last week which is why there is no podcast posted. The podcast will resume tomorrow. Tune in tomorrow to hear about my fabulous week in DC, the extraordinary DC Tea Party and some interesting interactions with Congress.

I came home on a mission. Many politicians in DC make it very clear that they are above us. The entire city reflects that position. We need to bring them down to size or better still get rid of them. If you want to be involved email me at fwdaj.com and we can do it together.

FWDAJ 8-18-09

by Jane on Aug.19, 2009, under Uncategorized

Another slugfest in the first half hour of FWDAJ today. I think Dick is sick of the health care debate. He insisted that there was no reason to pay attention because we don’t yet have a bill. I vehemently disagreed noting the importance of letting our reps know how we feel about Government health care. Dick was also gleeful that a Tea Party organizer was on TV saying they were sending out the word to Tea partyers to show up at these meetings. As far as I am concerned we need more “organizing” not less. Heck, our own president tells his supporters to “get in their faces”. What works for the goose…

We anticipated the Barney Frank Townhall in Dartmouth on Tuesday night. Neither of us even imagined that Frank would say things like: “Talking to you is like talking to a dining room table”.

We talked a bit about the left’s Alinsky methods. “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it.” Recent recipients (via Breitbart) of the Alinsky method include: George Bush, Sarah Palin, Joe the Plumber, The Mormons, Rush Limbaugh, Tea party goers, a beauty contestant, a Cambridge cop, and Town hall “mobs”.

Dick veered into his usual rant about how much he hates Rush.

The Joker poster, Milk carton politicans, Pharma’s deal with the White House and the “fishy emails” made small appearances as well.

Tea Parties

by Jane on Jul.15, 2009, under Uncategorized

I’m a huge proponent of the Tea Parties and have attended both local ones. My friend Carole and I prepared together for the first one – she made 10 signs which we handed out to the protesters on April 15th (I watched). When we went to the Tea Party in June we were happy to see three of the signs we handed out make a reappearance.

At any rate, Caro memorialized the experience here. You can find the rest of her art here.

The music is by Kathleen Stewart.

FWDAJ 6-23-09

by Jane on Jun.25, 2009, under Podcast

Once again Iran dominated the beginning of the show.  We discussed what we know so far, the fact that we are learning what we know from the “new media” particularly “Twitter”, and the President’s tepid, almost uninvolved response. (The President finally changed his response while we were doing the program)

We talked about President Sarkozy’s declaration that he wants to ban the Burkha:

“In our country, we cannot accept that women be prisoners behind a screen, cut off from all social life, deprived of all identity … The burqa is not a religious sign, it’s a sign of subservience, a sign of debasement — I want to say it solemnly, it will not be welcome on the territory of the French Republic.”

And compared that with President Obama’s words in Cairo:

“I know there is debate about this issue. I reject the view of some in the West that a woman who chooses to cover her hair is somehow less equal, but I do believe that a woman who is denied an education is denied equality”

This brought us to an interesting discussion about freedom of religion.

After the break, Dick wanted to bring us up to date on Governor Patrick’s machinations, as well his announcement that despite record low approval ratings he plans to run again. Next, Dick, our resident democrat, rued the fact that no republicans run in Massachusetts. I suggested that might have something to do with the democrats success at demonizing any republican opponent ala Alinsky. As a result, most republicans just don’t think it is worth it.

We talked about the “Man-cession” caused by the majority of lay-offs occurring in male dominated sectors, i.e. construction and manufacturing. I reiterated my belief that it’s tough to be a white man in the USA these days.

We also talked briefly about the Worcester Tea Party last Saturday and the ongoing media love-fest for our current president particularly ABC’s scheduled coverageT today.

The hour went by quickly. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

FWDAJ 4-14-09

by Jane on Apr.15, 2009, under Uncategorized

How time flies!  Father Peter subtituted for Dick today, and we had a great time.  We started by talking about the Somali pirates,  and Richard Phillips the heroic captain of the Maersk Alabama who was rescued by our incredible navy seals

We noted that the President performed well in his first Overseas Contingency Operation, and wondered about his yet unannounced plan for combatting the escalating piracy problem.

We then celebrated Tax Freedom Day on April 13th  and wondered whether next year, the day when we finish paying the government, will fall some time in December.

Next we talked about the Tea Parties.  Father Peter and I are attending the Worcester Tea Party on April 15th.  For some reason Peter spent a long time wondering if we will end up in jail.  Having visited most of the jails in the Commonwealth, I hope not.

We talked about MA congressman Ed Markey and Henry Waxman’s proposed legislation with would allow all of us to sue the government if we think we have been harmed by global warming.  I wondered if the suit provision could be extended to people who have been harmed by global warming legislation.

Next up was corrupt prosecution of Ted Stevens,  China’s growing reluctance to purchase our bonds, and the first lady’s new full time make-up artist.

It was a really fun hour so enjoy.   If you are attending the Worcester Tea Party come up and say hello.  (Fr Peter will be the guy in the priest outfit)

FWDAJ 4-7-09

by Jane on Apr.08, 2009, under Uncategorized

The first half of FWDAJ was about as contentious as it gets. Dick had been plotting for days to blame the corrupt prosecution of Ted Stevens on President Bush forgetting the furor over the “politicization of Justice” and what would have been the consequences of a republican President firing a democrat prosecutor who was prosecuting a republican Senator immediately before election day.

it got worse as I talked about the President’s “Apology Tour” and Dick declared it a raging success. As I said, it got ugly. I expressed concern about the President’s ongoing criticism of this country to Europeans, and Dick thought it was just fine to criticize “since it is true”. When I asked him “To what end” the criticism served, he changed the subject.

During the second half we recovered a bit. We talked about the usual suspects, Dodd and Frank, particularly this extravaganza.

And of course we talked about the corruption on Wall Street and in Washington, and agreed that it was time to THROW THE BUMS OUT!

We both noted with some surprise that Governor Deval Patrick says he is running for re-election. Once again I encouraged our listeners to meet me at the Worcester Tea Party on April 15th.

Enjoy!

Getting Ready for the Tea Party

by Jane on Apr.05, 2009, under Uncategorized

On April 15th people all over the country are gathering for Tea Parties to show their distaste for the out of control spending by this administration.

Today my friend Caro and I started the preparations.

This is going to be fun!

FWDAJ 3-24-09

by Jane on Mar.25, 2009, under Uncategorized

AIG was all over the broadcast today. Dick is mad at the bonuses – I’m mad at the smokescreen, and the power grab. Dick no longer hides his disdain for the current President, and even backed off on his adoration for Andy Cuomo particularly when I pointed out Cuomo’s role as President Clinton’s HUD secretary where he forced risky loans on banks the same loans that led to the current economic crisis.

The usual suspects – Barney Frank and Chris Dodd made an appearance, as did Governor Patrick and others in the cast of characters robbing us blind.

Enjoy! And don’t forget to plan for the April 15th tea party at a location near you!
