Today we started with state politics, particularly Dick’s prediction that Paul Kirk would be named interim successor to Senator Kennedy. I noted that everyone else was predicting Michael Dukakis to the seat. If I’m reading my tweets correctly, as of 2:30 on 9-24-09, Dick had it right.

Next week tackled ACORN with the emphasis on the President’s attempt to disassociate himself with a group he has been associated with for 20 years. We talked about how all of the MA delegation voted to NOT defund ACORN after the recent scandals, except for John Tierney and Barney Frank, who abstained.

Finally we talked about my very favorite part of the scandal which is how it has shown the media to be shilling for the President, as most of the mainstream media declined to mention the scandal until the vote took place.

The fact that the vote took place at all tells me that regardless of the attempts to downplay the Tea Party last week, Congress heard us.

We went on to the latest scandal where the White House coordinated with the National Endowment for the Arts in what certainly looks like an attempt to get the arts community to push the president’s agenda in exchange for grant money. Dick had not heard of the scandal once again highlighting the negligence of the media.

In the discussion the media, special mention was given to Andrew Breitbart’s new website, Big Government, which is leading the charge on exposing both the administration and the media.

There was a lot in between but we ended talking how the administration is back pedaling on what it always called “the good war”, and how reports from Iran are very encouraging.

There is more but you will have to listen.

Another slugfest in the first half hour of FWDAJ today. I think Dick is sick of the health care debate. He insisted that there was no reason to pay attention because we don’t yet have a bill. I vehemently disagreed noting the importance of letting our reps know how we feel about Government health care. Dick was also gleeful that a Tea Party organizer was on TV saying they were sending out the word to Tea partyers to show up at these meetings. As far as I am concerned we need more “organizing” not less. Heck, our own president tells his supporters to “get in their faces”. What works for the goose…

We anticipated the Barney Frank Townhall in Dartmouth on Tuesday night. Neither of us even imagined that Frank would say things like: “Talking to you is like talking to a dining room table”.

We talked a bit about the left’s Alinsky methods. “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it.” Recent recipients (via Breitbart) of the Alinsky method include: George Bush, Sarah Palin, Joe the Plumber, The Mormons, Rush Limbaugh, Tea party goers, a beauty contestant, a Cambridge cop, and Town hall “mobs”.

Dick veered into his usual rant about how much he hates Rush.

The Joker poster, Milk carton politicans, Pharma’s deal with the White House and the “fishy emails” made small appearances as well.

Dick and I talked about the MA budget and the 25% sales tax hike which passed last night bringing our taxes to 6.25%, one of the highest sales tax rates in the country. We also talked about California’s pending bankruptcy and Barney Frank’s promise to bail out California with our money. We also talked about MA “quasi public agencies” where we the taxpayers pay lots of people lots of money to do – well we don’t really know.

Dick commented that President Obama was “transparent” as he is constantly out there making speeches. Visibility is not transparency in my book, and I encouraged Dick to watch the President’s left hand when his right hand is moving.

We talked a bit aboutthe abortion issue and how it isn’t an issue in MA, and hasn’t been an issue in MA for a decade at least, but nearly every democrat runs on that issue in order to scare people into voting for them. My inner libertarian snuck out as I suggested that people could make any decision they want as long as the government doesn’t pay for it.

Now on a roll I proposed that we immediately replace the legislature with non-paid volunteers who work only when needed. I also proposed that we immediately suspend all government programs except police and fire, and start again. And I was only half kidding.

We had a good discussion about the information emerging about ACORN and particularly the latest revelation that the NY Times had information about illegal campaign activity between the Obama campaign and ACORN and refused to publish it, lest it be an “election changer.” Dick wanted to know why I didn’t file a lawsuit. When I explained that the government had to investigate that violation and specifically the attorney general who President Obama appointed Dick understood my frustration.

There is more, but you will have to listen.

Dick returned this week and we talk about Massachusetts’ 25 % sales tax hike voted in by the democrat legislature the night before. The Governor preferred a 19 cent hike on gasoline, but was handed his hat by his own party. Dick thinks the sales tax is certainly more fair than the gas tax. I agree, but am bummed out that the democrat legislature didn’t even give lip service to a cut in spending.

Next we discussed the President’s first 100 days in office. I asked Dick what he felt were President Obama’s accomplishments. The answer spoke volumes. We went on to discuss swine flu, and the incident involving the President’s plane terrorizing Manhatten. I still have no idea why the plane was dispatched, and the excuses thus far don’t pass the giggle test. I wondered who actually has to sign off on this sort of event, as I suspect the President was aware of it.

We talked a bit about Barney Frank and wondered why in the first quarter, Fidelity employees have given Frank ten times as much money has they gave him in the last two decades combines. We should keep a close eye on that.

Dick managed to add something about Leveritt Saltonstall before we were done, which has become somewhat of a tradition. He also managed to remind me of his political expertise. C’est la vie.

Enjoy!

The first half of FWDAJ was about as contentious as it gets. Dick had been plotting for days to blame the corrupt prosecution of Ted Stevens on President Bush forgetting the furor over the “politicization of Justice” and what would have been the consequences of a republican President firing a democrat prosecutor who was prosecuting a republican Senator immediately before election day.

it got worse as I talked about the President’s “Apology Tour” and Dick declared it a raging success. As I said, it got ugly. I expressed concern about the President’s ongoing criticism of this country to Europeans, and Dick thought it was just fine to criticize “since it is true”. When I asked him “To what end” the criticism served, he changed the subject.

During the second half we recovered a bit. We talked about the usual suspects, Dodd and Frank, particularly this extravaganza.

And of course we talked about the corruption on Wall Street and in Washington, and agreed that it was time to THROW THE BUMS OUT!

We both noted with some surprise that Governor Deval Patrick says he is running for re-election. Once again I encouraged our listeners to meet me at the Worcester Tea Party on April 15th.

Enjoy!

AIG was all over the broadcast today. Dick is mad at the bonuses – I’m mad at the smokescreen, and the power grab. Dick no longer hides his disdain for the current President, and even backed off on his adoration for Andy Cuomo particularly when I pointed out Cuomo’s role as President Clinton’s HUD secretary where he forced risky loans on banks the same loans that led to the current economic crisis.

The usual suspects – Barney Frank and Chris Dodd made an appearance, as did Governor Patrick and others in the cast of characters robbing us blind.

Enjoy! And don’t forget to plan for the April 15th tea party at a location near you!

The confrontation yesterday between Barney Frank and his posse at the Financial Services Committee was a sight to see. In this corner we have the guy who along with Chris Dodd at the Banking committee repeatedly refused to regulate Fannie and Freddie . That refusal to act pretty much forced banks into oblivion via the subprime mortgage mess. In the other corner, the Presidents of those banks who while losing assets in record speed were lining their pockets even faster.

It was very hard to decide which set of crooks to root for but I finally made up my mind. Until we find some way to get testimony under oath from Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, John Murtha, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and the rest of the elected officials who have become rich beyond expectation on an elected official’s salary, I’m going with the bankers.
