Fun With Dick & Jane

After a little kvetching by Dick over state transportation issues (more money, more money more money) we talked about Fort Hood, Hasan’s ties to jihadists, and political correctness.

Anyone who reads here knows how I feel about political correctness. It is doing great damage to this country – and now even the terrorists are escaping scrutiny in our desire to create rules to make every word, act and deed equal – unless of course you are a white male. It is shameful and we saw the consequences at Fort Hood last week.

We talked about the fact that 44% of the people serving in Congress are millionaires, compared to 1% of the general population. The critical part of this statistic is how few of the millionaires have actually ever held a job outside of elected office. Charlie Rangel comes to mind. And bear in mind that the calculation of who is a millionaire does not include personal property. The number presumably would be much larger if it did.

We revisited last week’s elections – Christie defeated Corzine in NJ and McDonnell defeated Deeds in VA. Doug Hoffman lost, but we learn today not all the votes were counted (and still haven’t been counted.) Hoffman is 3000 votes behind with 10,000 to be counted. Even so it is unlikely the election will be reversed. The winner, Bill Owens broke four (4) campaign promises within an hour of being sworn in – including voting for the health care bill, while campaigning against it days before.

Next up was Barney Frank who was present when his boyfriend was busted for pot in 2007. (We have just learned.) Barney says he doesn’t know what pot looks like (certainly he knows what it smells like) and it is disrespectful to question him on the issue. Indeed.

And of course we talked about jobs. JOBS JOBS JOBS – actually the lack of them. Unemployment is now at 10.2% with the real rate at about 17%. What a disaster.

Finally we talked about Joe Wilson’s proposal to force Congress onto the Government health insurance plan. What’s good enough for the people is certainly good enough for YOU TOO Congress. Sadly, it will never make it to the floor.
