Election Day! Today’s show took place while they were voting in VA, NJ and NY. Dick was less interested in the results than I, but I waxed on about it anyway. I was hoping for a Christie, McDonnell, Hoffman sweep, but as everyone knows by now, Hoffman did not pull it out. Since Hoffman was the Tea party candidate, that bums me out.
Next up: Health care. Dick feels strongly that something will pass, and he’s probably right. I hold out hope that the Congress will fix what is broken before adding 111 new government bureaucracies.
WE had some fun discussing Al Gore’s projected $1 billion paycheck for his phony carbon credit scheme. I reminded Dick that his unrelenting criticism of Dick Cheney’s supposed profit from Haliburton pales in comparison to Gore’s take. (I wonder if the administration will opt to claw some of that back?)
That led us to a discussion of the looming $12 trillion national debt – a frightening statistic if there ever was on.
We also talked about Afghanistan, Hillary Clinton’s performance thus far, and Deval Patrick’s new “Red-light cameras” as well as a few other things.
Enjoy!
